The Sri Lanka visa extension can be done online even from the comfort of your home, or even your own country. One of the interesting things about this process is the fact that the entire procedure to extend the visa is online. From the application stage, payment stage, and receiving the extension.
This entire process was put in place by the Sri Lank immigration office to ensure that tourists do not gather at their immigration office in Colombo. Attending to all of those tourists can be frustrating and some of them might not be happy with the entire process.
The process for visa extension is very simple and straightforward. As long as you follow the steps I’m going to show you, you’ll not have a problem completing your visa extension process. You’ll only need to spend 10-15 minutes filling out the application form depending on how fast you are.
After you’ve successfully filled out the visa, it will take two days for Sri Lanka immigration to process your visa extension. After the visa extension has been processed, you’ll be required to make the payment. With this said, it will take you 3 days to complete the entire visa extension period.
For some reason, if you’re unable to complete the visa extension process online, you’ll have to visit the Immigration and Emigration office in Colombo or you have to take the help of an agent.

What Is The Validity Period Of a Sri Lanka Extended Visa?
As a tourist or immigrant visiting Sri Lanka, you’re allowed to stay up to 30 days. But for any reason, if you must prolong your stay in Sri Lanka for any business or whatever reason, you can officially extend your visa twice while in the country. This extension will be 60 and 90 days.
This means that ETA will be 30 days, the First extension will be 60 days, and the Second extension will be 90 days.
With all that said, the maximum time that you’re allowed to stay in the country as a tourist is 180 days. If for any reason you refused to leave the country you’ll have to be deported.
When Should I Extend My Sri Lanka Visa Online?
The visa extension can be done online for anything you have successfully entered Sri Lanka on your ETA. Waiting for the last minute can be a bad idea as you’ve no idea of what could arise within that period that will lead to a delay in your visa extension.
I’ll advise you to try and extend your visa at least 2 weeks before the current visa expires because the extension period takes 3 days.
